What makes you feel safe?

There's a lot of things don’t make me feel safe but, there's things that do too, just not as many. Like there's my family when I'm around them I'm more relaxed because I know nothings going to happen. When I'm in my room I feel safe just because I'm in a comfortable isolated area. If I'm home alone though…. that’s a different story because I feel like I'm not alone which is really creepy. Other than that I usually feel safe regularly especially when I'm around friends I really trust and when I'm around family even if its just one person. This probably isn't something I should be posting on a blog but oh well, not like someone's going to attack me or anything.

Mary Poppins

As Jane and Michael stare out the window they spot her. The best nanny who ever stepped foot onto earth; she was like an angel sent from above but, instead of wings she had an umbrella. They didn’t know her name yet but all they knew is that it that she was the start to something good, better. Their father on the hand is confused from where she came from, that doesn’t matter, all that matters is that she’s their and she’s the best nanny yet; her name was Mary Poppins. One of the best old age family moves made watched by millions and spread throughout the world. Mary Poppins by P.L. Travers follows the romantic mode of literature through its characteristics, plotline, and purpose.
The characteristics of Romance fit almost perfectly and here’s why; Marry Poppins (the main character) can do no wrong, even when people try to push her around and make her mad she doesn’t get mad.  Aside from just Mary Poppins there is more that goes on during the book/movie. For example when Mr. Banks (the father) takes Jane and Michael on an outing to the bank; once they get to the bank Mr. Banks along with his co-workers want Michael to open up a savings account and deposit his money.  Michael doesn’t want to though so the oldest man of the group try’s to take it by force to deposit the money but, he won’t give them up.  He yells “He’s not giving me my money back” so then as the group is going at it like wild geese. All the others want their money back because they think the bank isn’t giving them their money back. While the old man and Michael are fighting thee old man keeps on falling over so the workers chase him trying to catch him, which makes the whole scene extremely laughable, which of course is another main characteristic.
Even though the characteristics are important so is the plotline of the book/movie. The romance plotline starts out with a minor conflict, in the case; the father is barely ever around because of his job and, when he is around he expects everything to be perfect to his likes. Mr. Banks likings are different from everyone else’s in the household; Mr. Banks is strict, mean, and very un-understanding when it comes to children which, makes it is difficult for the children to please him. This is a conflict in the story because; it affects the children in a negative way which is never good. Not only is their father mean, but now they need a new nanny because the last one gave up on them. So now Mary Poppins is coming into the story; Jane and Michael now believe everything’s okay but, then later on she has leave which makes Jane and Michael so sad that they almost cried. The end of the romantic plot line is life/life symbolism which is, Mr. Banks getting fired from his job and realizing he has been a bad father.
The best thing to know about a book/movie is not just the characteristics and plotline but also the purpose. When Mr. Banks got fired he finally realized that he has been a poor father so he runs home all happy and makes his kids happy. He does this by fixing a kite they have lost and then lifting them in the air and spinning them around. Even though Mary Poppins left the father made them happy by trying to be a better father; which is the whole purpose of the book/movie. It’s to show you a sense of a sense of innocence and escapism, in this case though it was escapism from our self. The father escaped his own self to develop a change in his personality a better, more fun, energetic personality. This way Mr. Banks will spend more time with his kids any enjoy his life more along with, Michael and Jane who are also, both a lot happier about the new him and so is his wife. Sense Mr. Banks apologized, it gave him a sense of innocence to everyone because he realized what he did was wrong and he fixed it; which is one of the best things you can ever do.
All the characteristics, plotline, and purpose all follow the romantic criteria, which prove that Marry Poppins is a romance. Even though it may not seem that way a romance doesn’t have to be romantic, kind of like comedy; a comedy doesn’t have to be funny to have the criteria of a comedy. Mary Poppins is a one of a kind book/movie and nobody can change it because to matter what I’ll always watch the original one. No matter what the original is always the best of any book/movie and that’s the way it will always be for me no matter what.

Navy

I have a step brother in-law that is in the navy. He's stationed in San Diego, California, and my step sister lives their in California with him because they're married. Because of that we went to San Diego to visit them both. When we went there my brother showed us the base and where he worked; he works on helicopters. He told us that one time while he was directing a helicopter for lift off a seagull flew into the propellers of the helicopter and its guts and everything got all over him but, he couldn't do anything because he had to keep directing the helicopter. Along with that he showed us what he does, how he does it, and he even let us go in a helicopter and sit in one. We got so many pictures from just the base and its a place where it's very rare that you'll step foot in if your not part of the navy; so it was a cool experience being there and learning what he does.

Bubbles

The one thing that bubbles remind me of is Summer. It reminds me of that because every summer at least we'll go to my grandma's and my sister will blow bubbles and expect me to pop them... so of course i pop them. One time though i popped it and the soap landed right in my eye. I was on the ground yelling and my grandma just laughed at me along with my sister. That's a family moment I'll never forget.

Snow

Snow is awesome but, when you come from a beautiful place; like let's say San Diego, California and come back home and then next day it starts snowing. I know I said snow was awesome but snows not that awesome where it can put me in a downer mood. Now there's suppose to be A LOT of snow tonight and im actually kind of excited for it. Specially sense I'm going to my dads this weekend which i might be able to play outside with them if I'm lucky.

Creative Piece

It was a windy day when the man crossed the road and went into the bus station. He waited about an hour until his bus came, once his bus arrived he got up stretched, walked over to the bus door, and slowly went up the steps and into his seat. By now he knew the wait time until he had to get off, which meant another two hours with nothing to do. He took out his phone set an alarm half an hour before he had to get off just in case he fell asleep. The man sat down, and almost instantly his eyes started growing heavier and heavier with everything around him eventually fading to blackness. By now the wind had settle so it was a peaceful time to take a nap; especially with nothing to worry about with his phone alarm set.
A strange man walked onto the bus wearing a white overcoat the bus driver thought he was crazy but said nothing and let him on. The man’s name was Jr., not what he preferred but it’s what he born with so there wasn’t much he could do. Jr. sat right next to the man sleep said nothing; didn’t even look at him as was drooling on the seat in front of him. He knew everything he needed about the man sitting next him; that man’s name was Keith on the outside he looked like an average human being but that’s what he wanted them to see. Keith wouldn’t be an undercover spy if people knew what he truly was.  Jr. however was much more superior, he was the top of his agency, he was different, and most of all he was Keith’s best friend, Jr. said nothing and waited until Keith woke. Once he did he wasn’t one bit surprised; from the moment he saw the overcoat he knew this wasn’t a friendly visit. But pure business between the two “what did I do this time?” Keith said
“I don’t know I’m just following orders”
“Usual than, where you throw a bag over my head and I act like I’m not conscious?”
“Yep that’d be the one today you ready?”
“Well…….ready as I’ll ever be I suppose”
Jr. threw the bag over Keith’s head and walked off the bus with him over his shoulder the bus driver saw this often and got a bonus for keeping quiet. Jr. went along the route he usually did (down to the subway and into a secret door on the opposite side of which they load the passengers onto the train). Once he got to the HQ Jr. took him into the “integration room” or as he liked to call it “the room where they acted tougher than they really were.” This had been Keith’s 15th time in this room; all Jr.’s agency (the WATATO, or the Where Awesomer than All the Others) just wanted some info about Keith’s agency the INAUS.  The WATATO just wanted to know things like how INAUS’s security was and how to get into the data base and stuff like that. But Keith was too good for them he never said a word not matter how hard they tried. WATOA was starting to consider torturing him; but then a war would start between the two agencies.
Once again after a few hours of them pointlessly trying to get him to speak; they had Jr. throw a bag over Keith’s head and escort him out of the facility. They got outside and Jr. took the bag off threw it away and the two walked together to his car. Oddly enough they were laughing because Keith no longer worked as an undercover spy; they didn’t know that INAUS meant I’m Not an Undercover Spy.  But the WATATO didn’t need to know anything about that of course though; both Keith and his best bud knew that. “One day I’ll quit, and then you and I will start our own agency the NAIG (New and Improved guys). We’ll even have our own Intel guy….or girl” Jr. said. Of course that’s what he;s been saying ever sense Keith left (which had been about two years).  “That’ll be the day” Keith always replied the same way because he knew it was most likely not going to happen, but we can all have dreams and that was his and secret Keith’s.

Word Association (Power)

Power is a great, painful thing. Some people have it others don’t; parents for example have power over there children. Or if example I'm baby sitting someone you have power over whom ever I'm baby sitting. But when I baby sit I usually baby sit my little sister and if there gone for a long time I'll sometimes get paid other times... probably not. Which in a way I don’t mind because there's nothing I'd really want to buy that I'd be able to pay for at the time. Speaking of which I pay for pretty much all my stuff, I paid for my iPod, my phone, most of the games for my Xbox, most of my clothes, all the stuff I order online which is usually either games or things I'm going to use like cases for my portable things (IPod and phone). Anyway, I'm not one to be greedy about money when it comes to others; when its other people I'm buying for or paying for I don’t mind. On thee other hand if it's me im buying or paying for…it's very painful seeing the money reduce in my wallet. Some people may call me cheep but its only towards myself that I am not towards others example: I think I pay fifty or so dollars every year for Christmas and I don’t mind it. It's weird I guess I'm better off that way because know some people who exact opposite of that. And its not cool seeing them be all greedy with their money it just makes them seem mean

Soccer

The first time I played soccer was in Kindergarten....I think. Anyway that was the only time I ever played and the only time I ever plan on playing. I play baseball and I'm good at it so I'm sticking with that. Back to soccer I never really played I just stood in the middle of the field and cried so then of course my parents got made. So they took me out and I think after half the season they finally took me out for good because there was no point of me being in it.

Water Slides

The worse or scariest experience I ever had with a water slide was at the Wisconsin dells (duh). My dad took us to great wolf lodge for about a week for vacation and it was; I could go on about that but I need to stay on topic. Anyway I went on ALL the indoor water slides, well the ones I could go on. The reason I say that is because I got yelled at for going on a kiddie slide I hurt myself on the landing anyway so I was okay with not going on those anymore. The biggest slide there my dad wanted me to go....I unfortunately did not want to go on it but I did anyway. So we got all the way up and think he said it was thirteen stories high.....I was scared at first I'm not going to lie. So were getting ready and I'm backwards while my dad can see whats coming. Little did I know it was a drop. My dad was yelling and screaming while I held on for my life and froze in terror; he asked if I wanted to go it again i said no. After that water slide I shaking I don't think I've felt that altitude of fear for a LOOONNNGGG time.

Rollercoaster

Okay so this is how it went; I was got on the ride and it started out slow but then it started to go up. I had things after things racing through my head but the main one that shouted out was " I'M GOING TO DIE" Of course once we get to the top leveled out so now I was I'm calm........AHHHHHH!!!! yep that's when the drop came we going down so fast I thought we were going to crash. But right than it swooped up into a loop and than another and then it leveled out again. I was still up high though I didn't get it. That's when the front started to go down and then so did I this time I felt like puking (one person really did which didn't help at all). Then it stopped........I don't know what happened but it just stopped randomly so then I got out of the car (I mean the ride WAS over). I got out looked at the track and said "Wow....that was one tough kiddie ride". My parents were laughing at me because I just went on a ride that only went up, off the ground ten feet. The worst part about that is that I soiled myself; along with all the other four year old.

Patriotism

The color guards pass with the flag along with the rest of the parade.  Two people stand, take off their hats, and put them over their hearts in respect. Some people sit there and think of how dumb they are. Others join them to salute the American flag. Patriotism should be shown as strongly as it was in the past; it’s a tragedy that it’s not.
To some people, our flag is a prized possession. It’s a sign of honor, respect, and love for the soldiers that are fighting for us. To others it’s just an everyday object that they don’t care about. The people that do care about it know to hang it where others can see it and make sure it doesn’t hit the ground. They know when they take it down it gets folded into a triangle. Letting the flag touch the ground is a sign of disrespect. If it ends up touching the ground, you have to burn it. The flag is used for more than just hanging outside. The flag is laid over a veteran’s coffin. Before the coffin is buried, they fold the flag and give it the spouse (if alive) or the youngest daughter/son.
Although the flag is important, so are the soldiers that serve it. There are soldiers in Iraq fighting for our country. The best thing about that is they chose to fight and be in the war; they are not being forced to. Personally, I believe veterans deserve the most respect because they are the most patriotic. Soldiers deserve even more respect than the president. I also believe that they deserve the most respect because they are out there walking the walk, instead of the president who is just giving orders. Yes, the president is important, but the soldiers serving are more important along with the veterans. It is obvious how soldiers are patriotic; the simplest of minds (children) can tell that.
Patriotism is important to many people and should be shown strongly like it was in the past. For some reason, though, there’s also a decent amount of people who don’t show patriotism. The main reason is because their parents didn’t show it, which carries on to their children, which then carries on to their children, etc. It’s sad that is what it’s coming down to, but hopefully it can be fixed one step at a time.
